Eternal Light Release Blast – Inger Iversen
of speaking to Yuri made Kale nervous, even after I reaffirmed my vision had
proved his innocence in connection to the death of my parents. I understood his
worry, yet I was unable to soothe it. It seemed Kale would just walk around
untrusting of anyone in the Council and I understood that, too. I didn’t try to
mollify his nervousness. Yuri would have to earn his trust.
lab and his living quarters. As Jace told it, years ago the lab swam with
scientists and researchers whose main goal was to keep up with the scientific
qualities of being an immortal. What that meant, I wasn’t too sure, but Jace
didn’t elaborate on it.
ratty ol’ loveseat that looked as if it was used for a bed on long work nights.
The bags under Yuri’s eyes confirmed my suspicions. Often I caught him staring
at me. Sad, yet kind eyes bore right into my soul. He no doubt felt pity for me.
Something told me Yuri was a kindhearted man, which only fueled my desire to
work with him.

the drawing of crude instruments and old formulas tell that as well. Still, I
must question the authenticity of this.” His brow furrowed and he shuffled from
foot to foot.

me, but I wasn’t the professional.
bushy hair fluttered in the wind he created. “No, on the contrary. A lot of the
findings in the journal are true. The hitch is that it fell into your friend’s
hands here.” He pointed to Sola who looked to all of us with an I-didn’t-do-it
look on her face. I almost laughed. “And now it is here, in the Council of all
places . . .” His voice trailed off as he stood and ambled around the desk.

seemed curious and I assume my lab is in question.” I nodded. “Once you were found,
my methods for searching were no longer needed.”

“Caron, in the lab back at Cambridge.”
Caron is a he,” she interrupted. “He gave it to me . . .” Her face crumpled as

when we were working together and we used it for the research.”

“So much for my perfect GPA.”
placed it to his ear, finger poised over the buttons. “And this Caron, has he
tried to contact you since you left school? Perhaps to ask where you
disappeared to or how you are doing? I would assume that you two became rather
close if you worked together daily.” A bushy eyebrow rose with his question.

covered his face as soon as all eyes were on him. “What?” He shoved his fingers
through his blond hair, feigning bravado I was sure he didn’t feel. “It was
just a question.” His blushing made me chuckle and his interest in Sola is
probably what put a frown on Kale’s face.

it was seriously hilarious to me. “We worked on this a lot.” She reached into

me if you aren’t too busy.”

genius.”
